The sax has just been professionally overhauled and repadded by Cumbrian wizard sax-tech Steve Marshall of Marshall-Mcgurk in Maryport, who has done all of my work for the past 25 years! This is the largest-bore tenor saxophone I have ever seen or played – it makes my Conns look like pea-shooters – and plays with a huge, robust, dark tone that is great for Jazz, but would also be a killer horn for Rock. It comes in what I assume is its original hard case, which is in decent condition.
This is a gorgeous example of an extremely rare instrument by Boiste, made, I estimate, around the 1940’s or’50’s.
